Someone so lovingly pointed out to me yesterday about my blogs being so negative, so I figured today I’d make an entire entry about something positive. I don’t really know how I could ever be expected to see the brighter side of getting a UTI the day before I was planning to move, but hey, I guess ya can’t please everyone, right?
I guess you could say sometimes the grass can be greener on the other side.
Life has been pretty eventful lately, and we spent the weekend packing up and moving our stuff 30 miles south to a new apartment. We got a great deal on a huge UHaul and were able to bring all of our big furniture over in one go. We’re still organizing and unpacking, but we’re getting there.
I love the internet sometimes. I got a new complete king bed frame from Overstock.com for under $300 and it’s absolutely perfect. It’s just what I’ve always wanted. The frame is sturdy and the head and foot boards are very modern and match the other furniture in my room. I was able to find a slightly used king mattress set from a friend and only paid $185 with delivery, so couldn’t complain at all about that. We got really lucky. We also found some other furniture we needed for much cheaper than if we’d pay brand new. I know we could possibly be moving again in just a year or maybe two, depending on how things all go, so I hate the idea of throwing a whole bunch of money into new furniture. I don’t know if we’d be able to take everything with us when we do leave, so it won’t sting as bad if we have to leave something behind.
The location for our new place is perfect. We’re right down the road from a great little pizza joint, and we have a Sam’s club not even five minutes away. The complex is surrounded by water and our unit overlooks a pond at the back of the community. Besides all the other huge upgrades, we also get our own washer and dryer now and an ice maker in the freezer. I had no idea how much I would miss those things until I had to live without them.
The cats love the new place and got acquainted rather quickly with their new surroundings, even though they hid in various spots for the first few hours.
We bought Tiffany a big cat tower for her to climb, and she’s absolutely smitten over it. We got a really good deal on that, too. We got this one from Amazon for about $70 with free shipping, and if you get them from the stores they’re usually around $100 or so.
Stephen’s starting school in August for computer programming and I’m currently looking for work. Maybe I’ll flip burgers. Maybe I’ll be a nanny. Who knows, but I’d really love to go into real estate and start at the bottom as an apartment leasing consultant. You don’t have to have special schooling or experience, so it would be a great entry level position just to get me on my feet until I figure out what I really want to do in the future.
We really love the new place and have been eating like kings. We got a coupon for a free pizza from Domino’s when we moved in, so we had to take advantage of that and we have an electric grill out on our patio, which Stephen was super excited about, so guess what we had for dinner the other night =D
Things are good other than spending so much time grocery shopping, unpacking, and catching up on laundry. I never enjoy moving but since our last place was such a dump, I was definitely glad to get out of there as quick as possible.
Anyways, if anyone’s ever in the Tampa / St Pete / Pinellas Park / Seminole area of Florida, hit me up and maybe you can come over for a cookout!
Ta-ta for now!
